The
up and coming young stock at Darrowby is quite exciting. These youngsters
are both the result of years of planning, and the hopes for the continuation
and growth of the kennel.
We added two new juniors on September 16th, 2014. These
were imports from Australia-we are going to need to buy a winning lotto
ticket to give to Rose for her guidance, assistance and generosity in helping
us with the rebuilding we are doing with super sound dogs that meet our
criteria for type, soundness, temperament, brains, and beauty. We are building
on our Ichthyosis clear stock as well, and we are bringing in a male from
Rose with an exciting pedigree that is a major ncrease in the genepool for
the US, and also a female Rose helped us locate that will really expand
the pedigrees here with gorgeous multipurpose dogs from a very successful
kennel. Look below to see details on Euraidd Orange
Flame aka Flame and already on our
active page is Montego's Circle of Life-our new Elton.
We have moved most of our juniors to the active pages--wonderful
that they are cleared and permanent members, and have finished their titles
in Canada.
We went to the Centenary Golden Retriever Club show in England and the Scottish National in the summer of 2013. We wanted to go visit Jim and Kate Crosbie of Garbank Lislone if we could. When I contacted them I found out about their wonderful visitor, Multi Ch. Tramin Arni Joy Hips A/A. I also learned there was a litter of his born in April from a lovely bitch owned by Jim and Kate. Currently two young dogs sired by this male and bred by Jim and Kate are doing exceptionally well in Ireland and Europe.
One thing led to another, and we flew flying to Dublin, rented a car, did a tour of the Dublin pub music scene, took time to go riding on the beaches and tidal islands (at low tide!!) near Connemara, then ferried from Dublin to Wales before going to the English shows. Dennis checked out the fossil beaches in southern England part of the time I was at the shows absorbing every minute.
After that, the legendary estate of the founding father for Goldens, Lord Tweedmouth, and the shows and festivities planned in Scotland near Cannich. The cottage where we stayed offers fishing in those wonderful highland rivers so well known for their salmon. Time for a trip to the Orkneys and maybe then we checked out the Speyside distilleries. THEN down to see Jim and Kate and we picked up Garbank Lislone I Got Style. McCallum rode with us to the ferry, crossed to Belfast, and then stayed at the beach in Sperries, next day down to Dublin,McCallum joined us on the Aer Lingus flight to New York, and now you can see him swimming in the pond at Darrowby. See the link to Canadian Champion Garbank Lislone I Got Style aka McCallum.
The Ghost of Christmas Past
As usual, plans of others sometimes offer unplanned opportunities for Darrowby. The last frozen semen from Joan Tudor's Linchael Titan of Camrose was used on one of Elaine Brent's lovely girls at One Ash. Boxing Day 2012 saw the arrival of 8 puppies all from Christmas long past. Six girls, and the opportunity for the pick female from this litter had us driving to Ohio in February to add One Ash Darrowby's Christmas Past to our Juniors. Marlowe, as she is known, has joined us in upstate NY. She has all of her clearances including a wonderful BVA 1:2 on her hips. Marlowe now has a cardiac and CERF clearance and her final ofA hip and elbow clearances, so she can be found on our active members.
Our newest member arrives in January of 2017. She will come to us from the Emerald Isle and Kerrie Kelly. A warm welcome to cold NY for our Miss Phyrne, aka Zenevieva Lúcháir of Darrowby.
